Making sense of the social work field education liaison role and impacts of neoliberalism: An invitation to reflect and reimagine!

The social work field education liaison role is fraught with tensions, contradictions and ambiguity, causing confusion about the role, functions responsibilities of across individual staff, students universities, resulting in students’ divergent experiences staff floundering mire uncertainty. As an academic, my undertaking different institutions observing colleagues fulfilling differently managerial changes to resourcing prompted me review literature further develop understanding inform practice. A thematic literate was conducted which 36 academic articles were reviewed, excerpts collated, coded analyzed. Six themes emerged are explored this piece: signature pedagogy importance role; under-researched ambiguous; roles, responsibilities; a conduit university governing bodies; neoliberal managerialist context call revitalise role.
